Lots of fields, barns, bridges, windmills, and religious billboards along the way.
Kind of fell in love with this old sign not far from Anna’s house.
Had a delicious dinner at Mellow Mushroom our first night in town.
We had a great time walking around the grounds at Jim Beam. It’s atop a hill and surrounded by mountains, so it’s a pretty gorgeous spot to spend a bit of time. We took in the sites, enjoyed a free tasting (everyone gets to pick two bourbons to sample), and ate some BBQ.
Why, of course there are fancy, expensive hats and fascinators for sale at the track!
We arrived at the track just in time for the last race of the day (almost as if we had planned it that way). A very kind lady advised us of the best way to bet if you’re a beginner, so we placed our $2 bets, each on three different (long shot) horses, and one of my pics crossed the finish line in 2nd place! I’d never been so thrilled to win $6.20 in my entire life.
Notice I un-intentionally wore my horse romper, which undoubtedly assisted with my win.
