As we approach the start of a new year, I thought I’d share an idea my boyfriend suggested to me. Every day life has a tendency to catch up with us, and we sometimes, in the chaos, lose sight of exactly how fortunate we are. This year, I have agreed, at my boyfriend’s request, to write one thing down everyday that I am thankful for. Things about my days, and my life that bring me joy; the reasons for which I am lucky. We will do this every day, and put them in a big jar so we can see the jar get filled with happiness, love, joy, and gratitude. Then, next year, as we approach 2015, we will read them to each other as our yearbook of sorts- our gratitude journal if you will. I imagine that it won’t always be easy (we all have those rough days), but I think that’s part of the beauty in it. It will serve as a reminder that, even on our worst days, we are lucky.
So, as we all ring in the new year, remember that for all of it’s ups and downs, you’ve been very lucky in 2013. Hang on to that. Move forward knowing that you will continue to be lucky in many ways… we all just need to take the time to find and acknowledge our own personal embarrassment of riches. I am ever so thankful to have discovered this platform, and for you beautiful folks who read what we write, and offer support. THANK YOU!
From the Well-Rounded family to yours: May the New Year bring you love, laughter, adventure, and good health. Be safe and have a blast!
